Niue-an Flag Picture	Add you title Skimming and Scanning		Niue-an Facts Niue was found 19 October 1974. The first Europeans to sight Niue sailed under Captain James Cook in 1774. Cook made three attempts to land, but the inhabitants refused to grant permission to do so.
History The first Europeans reached Niue in the wake of Captain Cook's expedition to the region in 1774.
